Have fun doing this Christmas party games with your family and friends. White Elephant present exchanges are fun and easy and a special way to zest a traditional present exchange. Each invitee who cares to take part must contribute a gift.
Everyone sits or stands approximately in a round around the mass of presents. Prepare slips of paper adequate to the total of presents with distinctly written numbers. Be certain to distinguish 6 from 9, 1 from seven. Every active guest selects a number and holds onto that slip of paper. On the first go, the invitee with paper slip #1 takes a gift, opens it, and all admire it. On the second round, the invitee with paper slip #2 receives the option of “thieving” any unwrapped present (#1’s) or selecting a wrapped one. If #2 steals #1’s gift, then #1 must open a wrapped present. On the third turn, the guest with paper slip #3 gets the option of “stealing” any unwrapped gift (#1’s or #2’s) or taking a wrapped one. If a gift is stolen from you, you can bargain a present, or open a wrapped one.
Regulations about “thieving:” A gift cannot be straightaway stolen back from the guest who just took it.
The turn proceeds until a wrapped gift is chosen thus the thieving stops. The fourth “owner” of a present gets to keep it. The present is “dead” after it has been taken three times. “Owners” of “live” gifts must keep them visible and hold them up when requested. The gift exchange ends when the last wrapped present is opened. Normally, invitees are encouraged to perpetuate the present theft as long as there are “live” presents, but no one is indebted to do this.
